How can I use this in my teaching?
Poll Everywhere is a live interactive audience participation tool.
It can be utilized to establish a baseline for your learners, as an ice-breaker, to facilitate discussion, as a tool to assess your learners, for brainstorming, etc.
How do I use it?
Creating a poll:
There are many types of questions from short answer, multiple choice, word cloud, survey, you can even include an image and define areas a learner can select.
Multiple questions can be created for one poll session, these can be organized into sets that can be reused for other teaching sessions. Questions can be easily moved from one set to another by clicking and dragging.
Conducting a poll:
The instructor conducts the polls with either the integrative plug-ins for Powerpoint, Keynote, or Google Slides or by using the Web-based platform.
The instructor will change the setting so questions are “live” and polling can occur
Collecting responses:
For each poll session, a unique website and text codes are generated so learners may access the poll questions
Live results will display on the instructor view
Other useful tips and tricks:
You can generate a Powerpoint slide that can be inserted into your presentation, in order to conduct polling from within your presentation, the plugin is required and needs to be installed on the computer you are presenting from.
