What is Area 2 4-H?
Area 2 is the geographic area in Wisconsin 4-H made up of Barron, Burnett, Rusk, Sawyer, and Washburn counties.
What are we all about?
Whether you are new to 4-H or have been around for a while, we hope you will learn something new through Area 2 - Project Discovery. By learning with others from 5 counties, we hope that you will learn new skills, find something you enjoy, and make new friends in the process.
We have 6 months of fun planned in Cloverbuds (5K-2nd grade), Food, Science & Fun (3rd grade up), Animal Science (3-8th grade), Paper Art (all ages), STEAM (grade 3-6), and Outdoor Leadership (high school).

Register at wi.4honline.com
You are able to register for events through 4-H online! All you need to do is log-in to your 4-H online account, click events (over on the left) and register for the events you want. This one is listed under Area 2 - Project Discovery. If you see the Wisconsin 4-H Area 2 logo, you are in the right event.
I'm not a 4-H member, How do I register?
You will still register through wi.4honline.com and register as a new user (if this is your first event) - it will look like you are registering for 4-H but after you put in all of the demographic information you will be able to choose that you want to participate but not join 4-H. Once you sign-up for an account, you will only have to register for events from here on out.

Project Discovery Topics and Event Information
CloverBuds - 2nd Monday 6:00 PM (5K-2nd Grade)
Topic: Cloverbuds
Who is Responsible: Beth Rank, Burnett County Positive Youth Development Extension Educator, beth.rank@wisc.edu
Age Group: K-2
Goal: Provide an activity/record book for all Cloverbuds to explore the variety of projects 4-H offers in a developmentally appropriate format.

Description: The Cloverbuds Project is designed for youth grades 5K-2nd grade to explore and discover project areas. These monthly sessions will provide fun instruction from the Cloverbud Activity/Record Book published by Extension Burnett County. A material list (if any) is provided in the book and participants can do activities during the session or on their own time. Join when you can!
Curriculum used (if any): Extension Burnett County 4-H Cloverbud Activity/Record Book
Anticipated Fair Project(s): many and they are directly linked to Burnett County Fair entries (each county may vary in what they’re allowed to enter but it’s one example)
Dates offered: 2nd Monday of every month from 6:00-6:45 p.m. via Zoom for virtual games and hands-on learning.
Food, Science, & Fun - 3rd Monday 6:30-7:30 (3rd-up)
Topic: Foods & Nutrition & Food Science

Age Group: 3rd grade and up (with adult supervision)
Goal: The main objectives of this program are to develop culinary skills and knowledge of food, bring families together and promote healthy lifestyles through better eating and activity patterns.

Description: Partnering with FoodWise to offer a Foods & Nutrition and Food Science program for youth and adults together. During our time, we will be doing some food experiments and demonstrations, recipe sharing, culinary skill development, and maybe even practice sensory science (tasting!).

Animal Science - 3rd Tuesday at 7:00 PM (3rd - 8th grade)
Topic: Animal Science

Goal: The goals of this program is to bring knowledge to the participants about different animal species.
Dates Offered: Every 3rd Tuesday at 7 pm

Description: Come along with me for the next 6 months and learn all about animals, from small to large! We will take time to get to know a few of your favorite species and understand more about them and how to manage them.
Curriculum Used: Various animal species curriculum.

Paper art - 3rd wednesday 6:30PM (all ages)
Topic: Paper Art

Goal: To make art out of only paper!
Description: Throw out the brushes, drop the scissors, hide the paint AND bring your glue. Join us for an opportunity to create beautiful works of art with only paper, glue and your own two hands.
Dates offered: 3rd Wednesday of the month 6:30-7:30pm
STEAM Team - 4th Wednesday at 7:00 PM (3-6 grade)
Topic: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts Math (STEAM)

Goal: Learn about STEAM using the Design Process and Experiential learning

Descriptions: Explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Using the Design Process, 4-H curriculum and a little creativity we will learn about circuitry, robotics, and more through hands-on activities. If times allow, we will end with a one day STEAM camp in June! Join us every 4th Wednesday of the month at 7PM via zoom for fun hands-on activities.
Can’t meet every time? That’s ok! Activities can be done on your own too!

Outdoor leadership (high school) 4th Tuesday (6:30-8PM)
Topic: Outdoor Leadership

Age Group: High school
Dates offered: 4th Tuesdays, 6:30-8 pm
Goal: Plan and (potentially, covid allowing) carry out an outdoor experience with peers while practicing leadership skills.
Description: Have you ever wondered what skills it takes to be an outdoor leader? Maybe you even have some of them! Here is your chance to learn many skills that apply both to the outdoors and other settings.
This program has been carried out at UW-La Crosse and a local school.
Fair Project that will be covered: youth leadership
Sub-Topics: group dynamics, leadership styles, decision making, risk management, core leadership skills
