Classroom Lessons happen in every classroom at least once a month. Topics are chosen based on the needs of the students in each grade level. The topics that have been covered already include:
Meet The Counselor Lesson (August)
This lesson was an introduction of me as the new counselor at McNair. I went over my role, ways to
contact me if students need me, etc.
Friendship (September)
This lesson focused on making and keeping friends, inclusion, and healthy boundaries. The lessons were tweaked to
meet the needs of each grade level.
Self Control (October)
This lesson talked about the importance of self control and using our social filters
Sportsmanship (October)
This topic was requested by a few teachers and generated by student referrals to help students learn behaviors that are part of good sportsmanship
Empathy/Perspective Taking (November)
Our 3rd graders were taught & practiced what it means to put themselves in someone else's shoes
4th/5th graders learned about building helping relationships with others by having an open mind and practiced looking at scenarios through different lenses of each person involved
