Classroom News

For the next few weeks we will be diving deep into Colorado History. We will kick it off with our Old Fashioned Colorado Christmas where we will make old fashioned decorations like huge snowflakes, orange and clove pomanders, stringing popcorn and cranberries and making columbine flower ornaments. In Science we will be learning about the circulatory system and the respiratory system. In reading and writing we will be learning about the gold rush, mountain men and fur traders.

Fourth Grade Music Performance

On December 6, at 5:30 pm, the 4th grade classes will be presenting “A Colorado Christmas”! The students should arrive in the music room at 5:15pm. Please do not drop them off earlier as there will be no supervision due to the fact that last minute things will be getting taken care of. The students are to wear blue jeans and a flannel shirt (any color).

Morning Drop Off Supervision

Students who are eating a school breakfast will be allowed into the cafeteria at 7:30 a.m. We have a large number of students who are arriving at school between 7:30 - 7:45 a.m. who are not eating breakfast. They are just hanging out in the cafeteria. Our drop-off time for students who are not eating breakfast is 7:45 a.m.. We have been making announcements to students every day this week that beginning on Monday after Thanksgiving break, students who arrive before 7:45 a.m. and are not eating breakfast will not be allowed to enter into the cafeteria. There is no supervision in the front of the building or in the backyard until 7:45 a.m.. Please make other arrangements in the morning for your child if they are not eating breakfast.

Market Day

Our next market day will be on November 30. Students will be able to sell homemade items or items that they bring from home. They must have a signed permission slip before they can sell anything at the market. The only time this will happen is during morning recess. This is the only time they will be able to barter and sell. We have spoken to the students about the expectations. If they are in Study Hall for missing work, they will not be able to participate. Our classroom economy program is part of the Social Studies State Standards and we thought it would be a fun way for them to learn. If a child chooses not to bring anything to sell, they can definitely still buy from other students if they have the money. We have discussed the items that are brought need to be thoughtful to make sure it is something another student will want to buy.

** There is no candy or food items to be sold.

Thank you for all of your support.
