History

Hello! I’m Mrs. Fears.  I joined the Middle School and High School staffs in 2011 as both a speech-language pathologist and teacher of the gifted. I love being with the older kids, and I especially enjoy teaching the OWL students! Here is a bit of my history:

I’m a Jefferson County native and a graduate of Hillsboro High School. I attended two years of college at Southwest Missouri State University before getting married and moving to northern California.  While my husband finished his enlistment in the Air Force, I attended California State University-Sacramento, where I earned both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in speech-language pathology.  We then moved back to Missouri, and I completed my Clinical Fellowship Year while working with middle school students for the Special School District of St. Louis County.  I switched to working part-time when our children were born, but once our youngest started kindergarten, I was ready to go back full-time!  By then, we were living within the Windsor C-1 School District, so I was thrilled to be hired in 2006 as the SLP for Freer Elementary.  In 2010, my duties extended to Windsor Elementary as well.

As much as I enjoyed my time at the elementary schools, I always knew that I wanted to return to working with older students.  I was also ready for a new challenge, and with both of my children in the OWL program, I found myself pursuing additional certification in the area of gifted education.  As fate would have it, the Middle School/High School speech-language pathologist retired at the same time that the secondary gifted education position became available.  Since both of these were considered half-time positions, they combined to create the perfect full-time position for me, and I have been blessed to hold this position ever since.

As I embark on my twelfth year as speech-language pathologist and teacher of the “Outstanding Windsor Learners” for the Middle School and High School, I am so thankful for this opportunity.  I love the challenges and rewards that working with this age group provides!  I look forward to another year of learning with and from my students!
