Lower School Arrival & Dismissal
2022-2023
The safety and well-being of our students is the first priority. Morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up routines are essential to ensuring everyone’s safety. We ask for all parents to support these guidelines by adhering to them and understanding that we cannot make exceptions to any family. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Please display your yellow WPS car decal/hang tag from your rearview mirror at all times while on campus.
Morning Drop-off
Students with older siblings who arrive before the LS times will join morning FLEX and should be dropped off at a FLEX location. See FLEX information on the LS Site.
LS Students’ arrival time is between 8:00 - 8:25am; the school day officially begins at 8:30 am.
Students must be dropped off at their grade level location in the morning. There are three drop-off/pick-up locations and are in this traffic order:
Grade 4/5
Grade 2 / 3 and PK3/4
Grades K/1
Parents will need to remain in the car unless assistance is needed by the child to exit the car (such as car seats).
Opening Exception- PreK3/PreK4 Due to the young age of the students, we will allow students to be walked to the classroom door starting at 8:40 am for the first two weeks of school. We will work with you to help transition all preschool students to the regular drop off procedure.
Afternoon Pick-up (M, T, Th, F)
Please do NOT arrive on campus more than 10 minutes before the dismissal time to allow traffic to flow smoothly. Arriving outside of your time causes delays and congestion.
Siblings are not grouped together at dismissal. Parents picking up multiple children should arrive at the dismissal time of the oldest child and proceed to the pick-up location of each of their children in correct traffic order (first spot is 4th and 5th, second spot is 2nd, 3rd, and Pre-K, and third spot is Kindergarten and 1st). The younger siblings will be held inside until the later dismissal time and will be brought out to their normal dismissal location at that time to protect them from the heat.
PK3/PK4 students who have a K/1 sibling (and NO Gr. 2/3 sibling) will be joining the K/1 classes for dismissal. These students will be taken over to the K/1 building and each one will be "dropped off" with their sibling in time for the K/1 Dismissal time.
PK3/PK4 students who do not have a K/1 sibling will dismiss at the “Second Spot” (blue awning location in front of the playground).
