REGISTRATION
Register for NeurIPS 2026 here.
In-person: To attend our in-person event, you need to register either for the NeurIPS “Conference” or “Workshops” session. Registering for either physical component will grant you access to WiML.
Virtual: If you are attending virtually, the NeurIPS “Virtual Only Pass” will suffice.
Information about visa application, including visa letter invitation, can be found here.
Fill in our WiML participation form (free): WiML Workshop 2025 Participation Form (soon to be released). This form helps us keep a headcount.
If you're interested in volunteering, we will be announcing details soon!
Note: You don’t need to be an author of an accepted submission to our workshop to attend.
To attend and present at WiML, you need a NeurIPS “Conference Sessions & Tutorials” registration.
For Sydney and Atlanta, each paper has one reserved registration slot. For Paris, a limited number of reserved slots are available. These slots allow you to pay and register regardless if the conference is sold out.
The registration process differs across location. Please follow the location specific information listed on this page.
One reserved registration slot is available per paper for paper authors in Sydney and Atlanta. For Paris, there is a limited number of reserved slots for paper authors, and the NeurIPS team cannot guarantee that every paper will receive one.
You must coordinate with the other authors on your paper to decide who will use the reserved registration slot.
Reserved registrations for Sydney and Atlanta are open now, and Paris will open sometime between October 12 and October 15. If you do not see the option to register through your reserved slot, see "I don't see the ability to register in my account" below.
We are sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, this year WiML does not provide the option for a virtual presentation. You can consider registering as a virtual NeurIPS attendee (which allows you attend NeurIPS talks) but since WiML is not being conducted in a virtual mode, we will not be able to help you present your poster online. We will definitely record your abstract on our website!
Please note that we will not be able to provide funding for the registration fees for virtual attendees.
Yes. Presenters need a NeurIPS profile, and the email associated with that profile needs to be set as the Preferred Email in OpenReview.
If you are a Paris author, you will not be able to register until it opens between Oct 12-15. If you are a Sydney or Atlanta author, registrations are open. If you still can’t register, your NeurIPS account may not be linked to your paper yet. We update paper links once a week, so please allow up to a week for the option to appear. Please follow the instructions in the OpenReview section.
No. These are separate.
The reserved registration is a paid ticket that allows the designated person to register even if the event is sold out.
Complimentary registrations are a separate possibility for affinity groups, and WiML is hoping to cover some number of paper presenters and organizers through those.
The reserved slot will be available to all co-authors on a paper who provided their NeurIPS email during the paper import process or whose accounts are linked in our weekly updates.
There is only one reserved registration slot per paper, so you must decide among you and your co-authors who will claim it.
The first co-author to register through NeurIPS.cc will claim the reserved registration.
WiML does not automatically select the presenting author. Co-authors should coordinate and designate which author will use the reserved registration.
Once a reserved registration is assigned, we are unable to change it from our side. You must contact NeurIPS if you want to change/update your registration.
We are waiting to hear back from the NeurIPS affinity chairs. Until we know how many complimentary registrations we will be allotted, we cannot confirm this information.
You may be reimbursed for the amount covered by the complimentary registration, subject to WiML's financial policies; details will be shared with complimentary registration recipients.
TRAVEL & FINANCIAL ASSITANCE
The funding allocation is still being finalized. The amount of financial assistance may vary depending on individual circumstances and the final funding allocation. More details will be provided once the funding decisions are finalized.
Yes, we encourage participants to combine multiple sources.
Travel, lodging, food, visa, poster printing. All of these categories have specific guidelines that will be provided once travel funding decisions are released.
We are still in the process of deciding. We hope to inform applicants toward the end of October.
You are welcome to pay for your registration now if you are able to. However, we recommend only paying for expenses you are willing to not be reimbursed for.
We cannot guarantee that these expenses will be reimbursed through WiML travel funding.
VISA & PRESENTATION LOCATIONS
We are working on a process to provide visa invitation letters. Once we have finalized that process, you will be notified.
We are working to finalize the schedule across all three locations. We hope to provide this information shortly.
Presentation locations for the WiML workshop are final, and each paper's reserved registration is valid only at its assigned location.
If you are able to obtain a NeurIPS registration at Atlanta or Sydney by your own means (without using the reserved registration), you may request to present at that location instead. We will evaluate these requests on a case-by-case basis, and approval is not guaranteed. Please do not book travel to a different location until we confirm.
Due to capacity constraints, we cannot accept any location changes to Paris.
Your paper's location and its reserved registration remain at your assigned location, and the reserved registration cannot be moved to another location.
If another co-author on your paper can attend the assigned location, they can claim the reserved registration and present instead, as long as it has not already been claimed. Once claimed, WiML cannot change it; any changes must be requested from NeurIPS directly.
If you can obtain a NeurIPS registration in Atlanta or Sydney by your own means, see "Can I change my assigned presentation location?" above. Changes to Paris are not possible.
OPENREVIEW
No. You do not need to submit an Author Rebuttal. If your paper is accepted, it is finalized as accepted regardless of whether you submit an Author Rebuttal.
Follow the instructions below:
Use your existing OpenReview profile (the one listed on your paper). Do not create a new OpenReview account.
Check your preferred email on OpenReview: go to openreview.net, open your profile, click Edit Profile, and see which email is marked Preferred.
If you already have a NeurIPS.cc account under a different email, update OpenReview instead: on your OpenReview profile, add your NeurIPS.cc email, confirm it, and mark it as Preferred.
If you don’t have a NeurIPS.cc account: Create a free account at neurips.cc using the exact email listed as Preferred on OpenReview.
EXTRA
Yes. Allies are welcome to attend! Note, however, that all speakers and poster presenters will primarily identify as women, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming, as our goal is to promote them and their work within the machine learning community.
WiML doesn’t have “members” per se, any women working in machine learning can be part of the WiML network. We have a mailing list for anyone to post announcements of interest to the WiML network and an opt-in, necessarily incomplete directory of women working in machine learning.
Use our mailing list.
Hanna Wallach, Jennifer Wortman Vaughan, Lisa Wainer, and Angela Yu shared a room at NIPS 2005. Late one night, they talked about how exciting it was that there were FOUR female students at NIPS that year. They tried to list all the women in machine learning they know of and got to 10, then started talking about creating a meeting or gathering for all these women and perhaps others that they didn’t know about. Jenn, Lisa, and Hanna put together a proposal for a session at the 2006 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing that would feature talks and posters by female researchers and students in machine learning. The 1st WiML workshop was co-located with the 2006 Grace Hopper Celeberation. In 2008, WiML Workshop moved to NIPS (renamed NeurIPS in 2018) and there has been a WiML Workshop at NeurIPS every year since. In 2020, WiML introduced an “un-workshop” at ICML based on the concept of an “un-conference”, a form of discussion on a pre-selected topic that is primarily driven by participants. Read more WiML history here!
No, WiML is a non-archival venue. This means that, if your contribution is accepted, we will not be asking you to submit a camera-ready version of it, nor will we publish it anywhere (neither online nor in proceedings of any sort). We will only make the title and authors’ names available in the program book.
