About me

Hi, I am Mrs. Lyndia Kornegay Howard. I work with the Wilson Public School System as Special Education Resource Teacher at Darden Middle School for grades 6-8. This is my third year with the Wilson School System. I have a tenured background working with at risk youth and adults since 1989. I began my career with at risk youth in the first group home setting for students with a Willie M' status. I later became a private group home co-owner, entrepreneur, for adult under the Thomas S' Consumer status. I returned to work with at risk detained and adjudicated youth within the DPS/Pitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center. I worked there until I received my Masters degree in Education, and was promoted from Counselor Technician to a new career as an Educator with the NC Department of Juvenile Justice with the Lenoir Youth Development Center and Dobbs YDC School for juveniles adjudicated for felonies. I have almost twenty years working in the NC State System. I currently hold a Bachelors of Science Degree in Family and Community Services and a minor in Sociology from East Carolina University, NC. I hold a Masters Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from Central Michigan University, MI. I also hold a license in Special Education (K-12) General Curriculum, Highly Qualified. I strive to work hard and smart within my career fields. I love observing our youth succeed and make milestones even if its small ones. In my personal life, I live by Christian Values, and my motto is:" If you work hard you can have anything if you have faith" and I live by the golden rule to treat others how you want to be treated even on your bad days. I spend a lot of time with my immediate family, and love being on the beach front properties, reading a christian novel, and enjoy my hobby with being a Mary Kay Independent Consultant. My favorite scripture is Hebrews:11:1. My husband and I have been married for 20 years, we have one son, Michael Darel, and my mom is still living and will be 91 Sept. 25. I look forward to working with co teachers to make a lasting difference in our children's future. Let's Go Blue...
