PARENT GUIDANCE DOCUMENT - Kindergarten
Learning objectives are addressed at various times throughout the year. Teachers use lessons and activities from Everyday Speech as the primary teaching resource for learning objectives.

SUPPORTING SEL AT HOME
Use the ideas below to engage in activities and conversations to support your child's in-school social-emotional learning at home.
ACTIVITIES TO PRACTICE SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM
Ask your child how they are feeling, and have them tell you why they feel that way.
As you are watching tv or reading a book, use the visual clues to talk about how the character is feeling (facial expressions).
Talk with your child about some chores they would like to do around the house, and set up a plan for completion of chores.
Identify an organization that needs help in the community, and go as a family to volunteer.
Talk about what makes a good friend with your child, and encourage them to invite someone new over to play.
Ask about who your child engages with at school, and why.
Ask your child to point out special things that make them unique.
Talk about your family celebrations, and include your child in the planning and preparation.
