Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is an Indian holiday that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Diwali is celebrated over the course of five days after the conclusion of harvest and to coincide with the new moon (typically between mid-October and mid-November) and is often celebrated with lights displayed outside of homes to symbolize our inner light protecting us from spiritual darkness. D39 schools are open during Diwali, but we recognize that some of our students may be absent to partake in celebrations.
