In my class, the learners get a different approach to experiencing U.S. History. Instead of reading from textbooks and memorizing specific dates, I focus on teaching the learners about specific themes about the foundation of the United States and the qualities every American should exhibit. To achieve this, the learners are exposed to personal narratives and hands-on activities of those from our past. Through these experiences, learners begin to establish their own core beliefs system and are able to support and defend their beliefs, as our Founding Fathers did 254 years ago. The link attached in this header is an article on why teaching thematically is important.
