Willis ISD utilizes a high-quality, Texas-aligned curriculum across all core subjects:
Math (Kindergarten–Algebra II): The district recently adopted Bluebonnet Learning Math, an open‑education resource (OER) developed by TEA and Great Minds. It's fully aligned to Texas' TEKS and STAAR standards, emphasizes conceptual understanding, coherence across grades, and includes digital, printed, and manipulative materials along with professional development support.
Reading/Language Arts: Savvas myView (Eng) and miVision (Spanish) was adopted to serve our students in K-5. As a High Quality Instructional Material, it is aligned to academic standards, is content-rich with clear learning outcomes, reflects evidence-based practices, and provides a full suite of teacher and student materials. K-2 also utilizes state approved Heggerty: Bridge to Reading for explicit and systematic instruction for foundational skills based on the Science of Teaching Reading.
RLA/English
Science: Science instruction is delivered using STEMscopes, a TEKS-aligned, hands-on digital curriculum that follows the 5E instructional model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate). It’s designed for active student learning under safe lab conditions and supports state science assessments.
