District philosophy

As we strive toward more college and career readiness, students continue to have access to technology from UPK to 12th grade. AT the elementary school students in UPK & K primarily use iPads to access their materials while students in 1st - 4th grade use Chromebooks. All students in the middle and high schools have access to Chromebooks that they take back and forth between school and home. This allows them to fully utilize G Suite Education, being used by teachers in all buildings (Google Docs, Slides, Drive, Sheets, etc.) and to make content accessible to all, anywhere and at any time. All of the other digital content used within the district by staff and students is accessible through our single sign-on application, Classlink. The digital content used by the district is meant to enhance the learning experience and provide a venue for students to explore topics of interest. Schoology is the Learning Management System or LMS, that is used by Williamson, to provide students and parents with a single access point to access grades, assignments, communications, etc.

This initiative helps build on the 4 C's of learning which are Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication. These are skills that higher education organizations and employers have designated as critical in students coming out of school. High schools, colleges, and businesses across the country are using Google Apps and we, as a district, are pleased to make these tools available to students and to provide them with a head start on their futures.
