Randi Jo Forbes
K–3 Exceptional Children (EC) Math & Reading Teacher
About Me:
My name is Randi Jo Forbes, and I am the K–3 Exceptional Children (EC) Math and Reading teacher at Williams Academy. I work with students in a separate setting, providing individualized instruction, resources, and interventions to help them achieve their academic and social-emotional learning (SEL) goals.
To meet the unique needs of each learner, I use a variety of research-based instructional programs and resources, including Touch Math, IRIs (Informal Reading Inventories), 6-Minute Solution, and the North Carolina Standard Course of Study to guide instruction and monitor student growth.
I have been a part of the Williams Academy family since 2017. I began my journey as the Testing Coordinator before transitioning into Exceptional Children services, where I have found my passion for supporting students and helping them reach their full potential.
I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. I attended North Carolina Wesleyan College for my first two years of college, where I played on the women's soccer team. After injuries ended my soccer career, I transferred to Appalachian State University and earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2012. While at Appalachian State, I met my husband, who is from Avery County, and I quickly fell in love with the mountains.
Today, we live on our small family farm, where we enjoy spending time with our dogs and raising our family. We stay busy following our favorite softball player, watching our sports- and truck-loving little man grow, and serving our community through our church, where my husband is the youth pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church. During football season, you'll definitely hear us cheering, "Go Vols!"
In the spring of 2025, I earned my licensure in Special Education, and I am excited to continue growing as an educator while helping the students of Williams Academy succeed.
I believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential for student success. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your student. I look forward to working with you and your family!
