Happy Spring! Welcome to our May newsletter ✨
We’re excited to share a few updates with you. Thank you for being part of SALUD—your support means so much to us. As always, we welcome any suggestions or resources you’d like to share or would like support in finding!
It’s been one year since we began offering free Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings to community organizations!
So far, we’ve trained over 80 participants across 12 trainings—including 4 in English and 8 in Spanish.
We also host a monthly Spanish-language virtual training on Saturdays, open to anyone interested. If you know someone who would like to receive free Mental Health First Aid certification, we’d love to connect with them!
This training is designed for adults who want to learn more about youth mental health and how to recognize and respond to signs and symptoms. If your organization is interested in hosting a training for staff, please reach out—we’d be happy to collaborate.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our outreach to salons and barbershops. Hairstylists often spend extended time with clients and may naturally engage in personal conversations. Through this initiative, we hope to equip them with tools from Mental Health First Aid to better navigate these moments and provide support when needed.
If you have recommendations for barbershops or salons in primarily Hispanic/Latine communities we should connect with, please let us know
We’ve received wonderful feedback so far and are excited to continue growing and strengthening our training.
We’ve made significant progress on our manuscript and are nearing the end! We’re currently polishing the final draft and preparing for submission.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our focus groups and surveys—your contributions have been great. We’re looking forward to sharing our findings with you soon!
M3P has developed a Core Assessment Battery for CHR-P programs, which many of you may have already started using!
As a next step, the assessment will be translated into Spanish (as well as several other languages). Once translations are complete, SALUD will review them to ensure the materials are culturally responsive and accessible for clients and their families.
If you’re interested in supporting this effort, we would love to have you involved—please reach out!
We are continuing to build our collection of Spanish-language resources on the MAPNET website! These resources include screenings, questionnaires, client-facing materials, and more.
Each month, we’ll be highlighting one resource to share with you all. This month, we would like to share the Latino Multi-Family Group Guidelines. Click here to see.
Feel free to download, share, and browse our full resource page to find more materials!
