The Georgetown University Academy for Research, Clinical, and Health Equity Scholarship (Washington D.C.): a 6-week summer experience providing opportunities for research engagement, clinical exposure, and a range of opportunities to explore health equity challenges that are prominent across the District of Columbia. Apply by January 20, 2026.
OHSU Biomedical and Bioinformatics Research Internship and Training Experience (B-BRITE): an 8-to-10-week summer research experience the where undergraduate college students work directly with established mentors in various fields of biomedical research, including, but not limited to, cancer biology, immunology, cell and developmental biology, computational biology, and biomedical engineering. Apply by January 22, 2026.
OHSU Equity Research Program: an eight-week summer program providing diverse undergraduate students with opportunities to work on research projects alongside faculty, scientists, and graduate students. Past internships have focused on biomedical sciences, dental medicine, medicine, nursing, and public health. Apply by January 23, 2026.
OHSU Oregon National Primate Research Center Undergraduate Summer Fellowship Program: fellows complete a project during their 8-week apprenticeship and present the results of their research at the culminating Summer Science Symposium. Apply by January 23, 2026.
OHSU Vollum/NGP Undergraduate Summer Research Program: interns are partnered with labs where they pursue independent research in molecular, cellular, and behavioral neuroscience. In addition to working in the lab, students attend regular classes on the principles of modern neuroscience, and receive valuable mentoring on applying to graduate school and pursuing careers in science. University of Cinncinati College of Medicine Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (Cinncinati, OH): summer research opportunities for rising third and fourth-year undergraduate students interested in biomedical science. Interns will have opportunities to be involved in clinical, translational, or basic biomedical research. Programs are available focused on pediatric clinical research, neuroscience, pharmacology, biomedical informatics, and cancer research. Apply by February 1, 2026.
Harvard/MIT Early Access to Research Training (HEART) MD-PhD Summer Program (Boston, MA): a 10-week summer program for undergraduate students with a strong interest in pursuing careers as physician scientists. Applicants must have completed two years of college and one semester or summer of research in order to apply. Apply by February 3, 2026.
OHSU ORION Undergraduate Internship Program: students in the Oregon Research and InnovatiON (ORION) Undergraduate Internship Program, you’ll study basic research and real-world treatments for cardiovascular disease. You’ll work to find new pathways that lead to safe and effective treatments for cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke. Apply by February 2026 (date TBA).
NIH Summer Internship Program (Research Triangle Park, NC): summer research internships for undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in the sciences and healthcare. Interns work on research projects under the supervision of a principal investigator in areas related to the biomedical, behavioral, and social sciences with opportunities to explore basic, translational, and clinical research. Apply by February 18, 2026.
National Institutes of Health Summer Internship Program: a program is for college, graduate and professional students interested in exploring careers in research and healthcare. These are full-time research positions within one of the NIH Institutes and Centers (IC) in the NIH Intramural Research Program (IRP). Apply by February 25, 2026.
OHSU Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Internship Program: paid, full-time summer internships in data science and biomedical informatics to college undergraduates to increase their skills with respect to data literacy and stewardship. Apply by February 27, 2026.
OHSU Summer Volunteer Program: Volunteers in the summer program will gain valuable, introductory experience in a healthcare environment at Oregon’s only public academic health center. The Summer Program asks volunteers to commit to 2 weekly, regularly scheduled shifts for a minimum of 26 shifts. Summer Program volunteers get the unique opportunity to understand healthcare from the perspective of the patient, while making a difference in their community. Apply by April 1, 2026 (application opens in early January).

Community Outreach, Research and Engagement Internship Program: opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in community engaged research on issues relating to public health. CORE Interns work on a wide range of community research projects for local non-profit and government organizations. Applications are accepted on a quarterly basis.
Fluorescence Molecular Imaging Internship Program: hands-on science education to high school and college students interested in careers in scientific research. Interns learn a variety of wet bench laboratory skills such as cell culture, spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, macroscopic fluorescence imaging, immunostaining, organic synthesis, small molecule purification as well as antibody conjugation and purification strategies.

OHSU University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Summer Internship Program: provides opportunities for Oregon high school or early college students to gain experience in the disability field, develop transferable skills, and learn about various career paths in health care. Interns will participate in professional development sessions and in person tours at OHSU labs, clinics, and facilities. Apply by January 12, 2026.
Tilikum Summer Health Experience (Portland, OR): a 5-week, hybrid summer program for American Indian and Alaska Native students interested in careers in healthcare. Interns will have opportunities to participate in programming focused on academic enrichment, indigenous health and wellness, and professional development. Apply by February 5, 2026.
OHSU Summit Dental Education Immersion Program (Portland, OR): a four-week summer program for undergraduate, pre-dental students that mimics the experience of attending dental school. Participants must have completed Organic Chemistry II prior to the program start date. Apply by January 16, 2025.
OHSU School of Dentistry Research Internship Program: various paid research internship pathways, tailored to the individual's educational level. Each intern will be mentored by an experienced researcher. Interns will take part in activities to enhance their career for a future in the field of science. Current opportunities are available related to dental public health, clinical orthodontics, biomaterials, oral microbiome, and tissue engineering. Apply by mid-February.
Columbia University Summer Public Health Scholars Program (New York, NY): a rigorous program that includes Public Health coursework at Columbia University; hands-on field experience and immersion in multi-sectoral public health issues; seminars and lectures with public health leaders; and mentoring by faculty members, ensuring students' exposure to the breadth and importance of public health as a career option. Open to undergraduate college students entering their junior or senior year and recent graduates. Apply by January 31, 2025.
Puget Sound Wildcare Pre-Veterinary Internship (Seattle, WA): internship opportunities for college students and recent graduates interested in pursuing careers in veterinary medicine.
