Hieroglyphics are special to the Egyptians for writing.

Perfumes and spices are rubbed into it to make  it smell pleasant !  The   body was  washed using palm wine and water from the River Nile. They wanted their bodies to be turned into mummies. Some mummies were put in beautiful coffins ,decorated  with gold and precious stones.

The book of the dead is written in hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics are not special to other countries. Hieroglyphics are difficult to use and a simpler way of writing.

There were at least 740 Egyptian gods and Goddesses . One Pharaoh called Akhenaten believed that there was one god called Aten the disk of the sun . His ideas did not last. His son Tutankhamun went back to worshipping all the old gods.

The Egyptians believed that the pharaohs belonged to the family of the gods. They also believed that if pharaohs did not do their duty the whole world could fall apart and there world would be a state of chaos.

The back of the book of the dead is written in Hieroglyphics. 

The Ancient EGYPTIANS believed that dead people wanted to live in another world. The body is was wrapped in linen  strips. It  took 50 days to dry out! The body was filled  with natron so it would dry out . The brain is removed by inserting a hook through the nose, mixing it around and then pulling it out. The intestines, stomach, lungs and liver are removed and placed  into Canopic Jars 

The body is washed to remove the natron. Extracts from the book of dead  are placed in the wrapping to protect  the body and help on its journey. Finally, you rubbed the body with oil and wrapped it in linen. Sometimes the coffin was placed inside stone chest called  a sarcophagus .
