All West Hartford Middle School students are expected to read at least one fiction or nonfiction book for pleasure during the summer. 

Students entering  grade 6 will be expected read at least 1 book of their choice and be prepared to talk about it when they return in the fall.

Students entering grades 7 and 8 will be expected to read at least 1 book of their choice and be prepared to discuss how the book served as a window, mirror or sliding door for them (see the explanation of this on the grade 7/8 page).
