T
he Immigrant History Initiative,
has created a free facilitation guide for educators to talk to students about anti-Asian racism during the pandemic. The guide uses a restorative justice framework to foster empathy, encourage anti-racist relationship-building, and hold accountability without shame. As the school year starts back up, we hope that educators will take the time to engage with students on this important topic, especially as rhetoric like the "Chinese Flu" continues to dominate the news cycle.
The guide contains 1) a comprehensive facilitation agenda, 2) tips on how to adapt the circle to remote learning, and 3) student worksheets, a vocabulary word bank, and reading materials at different lexile levels to accommodate a wide range of students.
