The TCS2 has a replaceable power supply assembly with a battery backup.
The TCS2 power supply has the following connections:
1. 120VAC Line, Neutral, and Ground connections to site power.
2. Ground strap from power supply metalwork to display bracket metalwork.
3. Power supply to Motherboard power cable.
4. DB9 Ribbon cable from power supply to panel PC.
1. Turn the TCS2 main power switch off.
2. Turn off the circuit breaker providing power to the TCS2.
3. Disconnect site power from the power supply’s main power terminals.
4. Disconnect the power supply to motherboard power cable from the J16 connector on the motherboard.
5. Disconnect the DB9 cable from the panel PC.
6. Use a 5/16” nut driver to loosen and remove the ground strap securing locknut nut from the rear display bracket.
7. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to loosen the (2) captive screws holding the power supply in place.
8. Pull the power supply assembly away from the TCS2 enclosure and set it aside.
9. Insert the new power supply assembly into the TCS2.
10. Tighten the (2) captive screws to the back wall of the TCS2 using a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
11. Connect the power supply to motherboard cable to J16 on the motherboard.
12. Connect the DB9 cable to the panel PC’s DB9 COM port.
13. Connect the ground strap to the rear PC/Display bracket’s ground post using the locknut removed is step 6.
14. Reconnect the site 120VAC Line, Neutral, and Ground connections.
15. Turn on the circuit breaker providing power to the TCS2.
16. Turn on the TCS2 main power switch.
No power supply LEDs turn on when the TCS2 main power switch is turned on.
1. Verify incoming site power from TCS2 breaker.
a. Verify there is 120VAC power connected to the TCS2 main power terminals.
b. If 120VAC power is present at the main power terminals, and the TCS2 power supply still does not turn on, the power supply needs to be replaced.
Power supply turns on, but 24VAC LED does not turn on.
1. Check 24VAC circuit breaker located to the left of the TCS2 main power switch.
2. If the circuit breaker plunger is pushed outward, push the plunger back in until the circuit breaker is reset.
3. If the circuit breaker is in the reset position, but the 24VAC LED still does not turn on, power cycle the TCS2 as follows:
a. Turn off TCS2 main power switch.
b. Wait 20 seconds for the battery LED to turn off.
c. Turn the TCS2 main power switch back on.
4. Check behind the TunnelWatch PC (may have to remove it to reach) on the bottom of the power supply there is a small white button as indicated in the below picture, press it to reset the breaker.
5. Check the 24VAC LED. If the LED still does not turn on, the power supply assembly needs to be replaced.
Battery backup does not work.
The battery will provide power to the network switch and panel PC when main incoming 120VAC power is lost. This battery backup power typically lasts for about 2-3 hours. The battery will also keep the panel PC and network switch powered on for 20 seconds after the TCS2 main power switch is turned off.
1. Check to make sure the battery wires are connected to the battery terminals.
Warning: Do not switch the polarity of the battery connections. Doing so can cause the battery to leak or explode.
2. If battery wires are connected, the battery needs to be replaced.
Power supply turns on, but VPS 24VDC LED does not turn on.
1. Power cycle the TCS2 main power switch.
a. Turn off the TCS2 at the main power switch, wait 20 seconds for the Battery LED to turn off, then turn the TCS2 main power switch back on.
2. Remove RS485 connectors on the Serial Interface Board.
a. If the VPS 24VDC LED still does not turn on, turn off the TCS2 main power switch, and wait 20 seconds for the Battery LED to turn off.
b. Disconnect both RS485 plug-in connectors located at the top of the Serial Interface Board.
c. Turn on the TCS2 main power switch.
d. If the 24VDC VPS LED still does not turn on, the power supply needs replaced.
Power supply turns on, but KPT 12VDC LED does not turn on.
1. Power cycle the TCS2 main power switch.
a. Turn off the TCS2 at the main power switch, wait 20 seconds for the Battery LED to turn off, then turn the TCS2 main power switch back on.
2. Remove RS232 connectors on the Serial Interface Board.
a. If the KPT 12VDC LED still does not turn on, turn off the TCS2 main power switch, and wait 20 seconds for the Battery LED to turn off.
b. Disconnect both RS232 plug-in connectors located at the middle of the Serial Interface Board.
c. Turn on the TCS2 main power switch.
d. If the KPT 12VDC LED still does not turn on, the power supply needs replaced.
