Welcome to Eighth Grade Social Studies
What will we cover ?
Eighth Grade Social Studies focuses on the history of North Carolina and its relevance to the overall history of the United States. During the course of the year, we will discuss the geography of North Carolina and recent trends within the state. We will also look at how North Carolina has been involved in major issues concerning the United States that have developed since the Revolutionary War such as the Civil War, The Great Depression, World War I, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement. At the end of the year, students will be required to take a North Carolina State Final Exam in Social Studies. This test is based off of information that we will learn over the course of the year.
This week we will be discussing the U.S. Constitution and the making of it. We will be discussing why the Articles of Confederation had to be replaced, and why certain elements were added to the the U.S. Constitution.
