the harty family

Adam and Mandi are long-time residents of Hendricks County, both graduates of Avon High School. We met after college in 2009. Part of our courtship was visiting the expansive vineyards throughout Indiana, Michigan wine country, and the Sonoma Valley. Inspired by the calm beauty of the landscape and merging of agriculture in a responsible way, we often dreamed of ways we could contribute to this tradition.

We were married in 2010 in Danville and hosted a big party at the Blanton House. The Blanton House served as another point of inspiration in our family story. Seemingly endless opportunity in a compact near-urban setting. This would play a significant role in the year ahead as we looked for a homestead for our anticipated family.

Mandi is a Speech Therapist, with experience working in nursing homes, elementary schools, in homes with adults and children, as well as remote virtual therapy. She is a graduate of Ball State and has been practicing Speech Therapy locally since 2007. In her late teenage years, Mandi was diagnosed with Stargardt’s disease - a rare disease - which threatened her central vision, as well as rheumatoid arthritis, separately. Rather than becoming limited by this fate, her determination and grit have been shaped by her response to these disabilities. Mandi has risen above her circumstances and lives with grace and strength.

Adam is a pharmacist, a graduate of Purdue, and has been serving Hendricks County since 2005. Adam is also a Coach, a Scout leader, and an advocate for his profession at the state level. An outdoorsman, Adam finds peace with nature and is inspired by its beauty. Molding responsible agricultural practices to fit within the natural world is a passion of Adam’s.

In 2012, we moved into our beautiful farm house on White Lick Lane in Plainfield. The farm land was once cultivated as a tomato farm, and hosted Morgan horses in its pastures. Taking our inspiration from the Blanton House, we have shaped the use of the home and the land as a near-urban natural paradise. Our deepest joy is raising our three kids on our farm and sharing with them how neat our corner of the world can be.

As a couple, our goal is to provide healthy homegrown food for our family. This has overflowed into a passion for healthy food from local soil for our Hendricks County neighbors. We are teaching our kids important life lessons through our farm life including hard work, integrity, and to respect the process (mistakes are allowed!). Although we stay attached to our professions, we express our individualism and ability to shape our own destiny through the Farm.

We love our Farm and we’re proud to offer you our very best! Come see our farm and share in the best produce Hendricks County can offer, in a convenient location!
