Video Title: The Darkling's Crest
Description: The Darkling is a mysterious and dangerous individual that possesses the unique power of summoning darkness and amplifying the powers of those near him. The Darkling is the leader of the Grisha, an order of people with extraordinary powers. The Darkling has lived for thousands of years, faking his death countless times as he waits for the moment to overthrow the king and take control of the “Unsea''. The symbolism of the Darkling’s crest is within the eclipse. While the Darkling was not always evil, greed and power drove him to commit terrible acts to achieve his goals. The eclipse on the Darkling’s crest symbolizes how a good person can be overtaken by power and smothered by evil. I created this banner animation in a 3D modeling software called Blender. Blender is a free, open source application that allows for the creation of various types of media. After watching a few tutorials on Youtube, I learned how to achieve the banner physics that I was looking for. I found an image of the crest, applied it to a UV map, and applied a cloth simulation to a plane. After doing this, I was able to model a scene around the banner. Once the rendering was finished, I used the free application Shotcut, to loop the animation and apply a CC0 soundtrack.
