This course is the first level of cosmetology and it prepares students with basic fundamental skills in both theory and practical applications of leadership and interpersonal skill development. Content stresses safety, environmental issues, and protection of the public and designers as integrated with principles of hair design, nail structure, and cosmetic procedures.

This second level course provides students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in both theory and practical application. Students receive advanced knowledge and skills in hair design, nail artistry, and cosmetic applications enhanced in a laboratory setting.

Students in this advanced course are prepared to perform work-related services using chemicals in the cosmetology industry and increase their skills in both theory and practical application. Course may be offered as dual enrollment.

Cosmetology IV is intended to prepare students for careers in cosmetology by developing an understanding and practical skills in efficient and safe work practices, career and business analysis, advanced hair techniques and chemical services, and state board theoretical and practical application.

This course bridges the gap between high school and careers in Tennessee. Students build on their classroom-based instruction and develop employability skills through internships and apprenticeships. Entry into this course is by application only.
