White County High School Beta Club hosted a shoe drive to help support individuals and families that are in need in our community. Doing this also gives service and leadership skills among members.
Students, teachers, and families were encouraged to donate gently used or new shoes to help make a positive impact beyond the school walls.
Laurel Farley, the Beta Club Sponsor said, “The Funds2org organization partners with the National Beta organization to raise money for clubs, get shoes to people who need them, and to limit the amount of trash in landfills.”
“All of these things are important for WCHS Beta. We are a service driven organization so this fundraiser helps reach several of our goals. Students collecting shoes will be able to help others and simultaneously help the environment,” Farley added.
All students participating had to bring in up to 25 pairs of shoes to earn service hours. By providing shoes, the Beta Club hopes to support comfort, confidence, and well-being for members of the community, during the colder months of the year.
This shoe drive reflects Beta clubs commitment to leadership, service, and academic excellence. Through organizations and fundraisers like this members not only help others but also learn acts of service and leadership.
Donations have already started to be collected and students can earn more hours during their dual enrollment classes to help sort, count, and organize the shoes to get them ready to be sent out.
This fundraiser not only helps others in need but also helps declutter homes and keep shoes out of landfills, which is bad for the environment.
Beta Club hopes to do more fundraisers like this in the future to expand the help they service to communities. Encouraging students to get involved and make a difference. Through efforts like the shoe drive, students are reminded that service begins with compassion and community.
