On December 26th-20th, the WCHS band traveled to Orlando, Florida to participate in the Pop-Tarts Bowl featuring Georgia Tech and BYU held at Camping World Stadium.
The Pop-tarts bowl has fallen under different names, but this year the title sponsor of the game was Pop-tarts. Overall, it is an annual college football game that takes place in Orlando.
Members traveled by charter busses from Sparta to Orlando Upon arrival, and while they were there, the band stayed at the Rosen Centre.
Before the big performance, two rehearsals were held where White County joined seven other bands.
Other bands that participated were The Red Pride Band of Lincoln County in Georgia, North Harrison Cougar Band and East Noble High School Band from Indiana, The Wade Hampton Marching Band from Tennessee
“Not only was the pop tart bowl fun it was a great experience that I can remember for a long time,” said Addy Cocke (‘26).
During the show, the bands performed songs such as “Country Roads” by John Denver, “Good Time” by Alan Jackson, and “America the Beautiful”.
While in Orlando, they also spent two days in Universal, taking time to make the most out of their trip.
Drill instructor Rylee Luna (‘26) recalled, “It was my very first time at Universal and it was super fun to get to experience it with my friends.”
Overall, the trip was a success for the Warrior Band and for the BYU Cougars who came out with a win, 25-21.
