Mossy Creek Elementary
My name is Stephen Gerrells and I am blessed to be able to serve the students and staff of Mossy Creek Elementary school as the Instructional / Academic Coach. My goal is to help teachers challenge, inspire, motivate, and nurture these children. I hope to serve the students at Mossy Creek and in White County Schools for many years. I have been in education since 2000. Before coming to White County I worked in Forsyth and Dawson County Schools as a middle and high school teacher, and Graduation Coach. I graduated from Lumpkin County High School and have degrees from North Georgia College, Piedmont College, and Lincoln Memorial University. Prior to my career in education, I worked in the business / computer industry providing software and networking support to retail customers worldwide.
My wife Kristi is Principal at White County Middle School and we have three children: Kalie, Zachary, and Hannah.
- Kalie graduated from Dawson County High School in 2008 and North Georgia College and State University in 2012. She is married to Jacob Smith and works as a freelance graphic artist. Jacob works as a canine deputy for the Lumpkin County sheriff's office.
- Zachary graduated from Dawson County High School in 2012 and the University of North Georgia in 2016 with a degree in accounting. He is married to Taylor Gerrells and works for Mixon Accounting. Taylor teaches 6th Grade Math at White County Middle.
- Hannah attends White County High School where she is a Sophomore this year. She earned a varsity letter in volleyball and soccer as a freshman and plans to continue volleyball and soccer this school year.
Kristi and I enjoy traveling, swimming, watching TV, and hiking. Additionally, I like to fish, hunt occasionally, read, build things, and just work around our house.
I also serve as Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 in Lumpkin Co. The church is located off highway 115 between Cleveland and Dahlonega. I have been at Mt. Zion for 9 years. Prior to being pastor at Mt. Zion, I was pastor of Mt. Gilead Baptist church, also in Lumpkin County, for 8 years.
