Art Club at Jack P. Nix !

The Art Club will be for students in grades 2 through 5.

The purpose of the JPN Art Club is to promote a growing appreciation for art in our community and in our school while fostering imagination and encouraging students in their efforts. It is my hope that students who participate in Art Club will have a space to create, contribute to their community, and feel confident in their efforts.

Information about the Art Club will be in your child's take home folder.

Stay tuned to this web page to find out about various community art shows and creative opportunities for your child!

As your child's Art teacher, it is my hope that my students will be curious, excited, and courageous in their art experiences. I want all of my students to have plentiful opportunities to not only learn and grow, but to also walk away with the feeling of accomplishment in what they have worked so hard to create. I want to provide the chance for students to notice the beauty in the world around them.... Art is everywhere!

I am a 2001 graduate of North Georgia College and State University. My degree and certifications include Art Education, Special Education, Middle Grades Education (Science and Social Studies), and Early Childhood Education.
In have experience teaching Kindergarten through 9th grade in a variety of subject areas including Art Education, Social Studies, Science, Math, and ELA.
Outside of my regular classroom experiences, I have also worked with kids at a youth shelter for boys, worked as a life guard and swimming instructor, middle grades youth leader, and now serve with the children's program at my church, Concord At Mt. Yonah.

I have been blessed to grow up in a family of educators and very creative people. I met my husband, Jeff, while in Art classes at North Georgia College. After we got married, we settled in Dahlonega and now live north of town near Turner's Corner.
I have always loved working with and being around children. I have four of my own! Griffin and Jay are students at WCMS. Anna Kate and Ben are here at JPN! In my time apart from teaching, I enjoy painting, reading, playing outside, and hunting for antiques. As a family, we enjoy scouting, geocaching, camping, and traveling.
Our family also includes several critters: 2 Dogs - Tucker and Malley1 Cat - Scalawag (because he looks like he has a pirate patch)2 Birds - Tweet and Pete2 Axolotls - Spike and Pebbles (these guys live in the art room most of the time! )1 Fish - Rusty
