Speech Masters consists of five workshops that occur through the fall and spring semesters for MSM and MSBA students. Sessions are 1-hour long and highly interactive. These workshops include: 

Confidence Building 

This workshop aims to help students feel more confident and display confidence through interactive exercises. Topics such as building self-confidence, communicating needs, celebrating accomplishments, and recognizing strengths and weaknesses are examined.

Communication Elevation

This workshop focuses on the art of networking and small talk. Topics such as the importance of active listening, how to start a conversation, appropriate/inappropriate topics, discussion starters, and how to enter and leave a conversation are examined. 

Business Communications

This workshop discusses why both academic and business communication is so essential. Topics such as types of communication, the importance of clear communication, why being concise is important, how to write a professional email, impromptu speaking, and recognizing the use of stand-up fillers such as "like," "um," "uh," "so," or "right."

Creating Professional Presentations 

This workshop targets the importance of creating presentations for the business world. Topics such as common mistakes, dynamic visual aids, retaining and losing your audience, advice for successful presentations, creating presentation slides, the importance of storytelling, and body language during a presentation are discussed.

Finale Workshop

Within this workshop, the participants will use the knowledge attained in all six workshops in a friendly competition to hold the title of Ultimate Speech Master. Each participant will give a 5-7 minute presentation and be judged by three non-partisan judges on presentation clarity, presenter confidence, and presentation slides.
