Students in Quarantine Document

In light of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in our area, which in turn means more quarantines and isolations from school, the district has prepared a document laying out the expectations for students who get placed in one or the other. The document can be found by clicking here. We don't need any of our students falling behind because they can't attend school in person. Please contact your building principal if you have any questions.

New Emergency Mask and Face-Covering Policy for K-6 Students Approved at Special Meeting

Parents & Guardians:

After in-depth discussions and respectful debate over three different meetings, the West Fork School Board approved an emergency mask and face-covering policy for students in grades K-6 that will go into effect on the first day of school, Monday, August 16th. At its last regular meeting on Monday, August 9th, the Board chose to take no action allowing more time for doing further research and await possible updates resulting from the recent injunction placed on Act 1002 by Judge Tim Fox. The Board then called a special meeting on Thursday, August 12th to discuss and debate the matter further after members had been given additional time to do more research. Finally, at another special meeting called for Friday, August 13th, the Board approved changes to the current Mask and Face-Covering policy that was last revised on June 14, 2021. The Board will meet at least once every two weeks to determine policy continuance with the following being considered.

  • The school district’s and region’s COVID-19 infection rates.

  • The availability of vaccinations for students below 12 years of age.

Virtual Learning Option to be Offered

Parents & Guardians:

At a meeting of the West Fork School Board on Monday, August 9th, the Board approved a synchronous virtual learning option for students to start off the 21-22 school year; however, the district reserves the right to make a determination as to whether or not to extend the virtual option on a quarterly basis. The number of COVID-19 cases in the state, and more particularly in our region, will be the primary determining factor.
