The West Perry High School softball team just got a new varsity head coach. Denny Wonsick is now the varsity head coach after serving as the assistant varsity coach last year in his first year as a coach at West Perry.
As the varsity head coach last year resigned, Wonsick knew that he wanted to take the team as the head coach for the next upcoming season, so he notified Ryan Anderson (athletic director) to see if he could apply. Anderson said yes and so Wonsick applied.
A couple months later at the school board meeting, Wonsick got approved to be the head coach of the West Perry softball team, and Wonsick was very excited to be working with the team again, just now as the head coach.
Wonsick says that he loved working with the players last season and watching the growth of the players was one of his favorite parts of the season. Multiple of his players from last season had nothing but good things to say about him and his coaching. Wonsick also says that he knows that this team has a lot of potential. Wonsick states that he is excited to see the growth that is gonna come out of the team this season and he can't wait to see the new players that are coming up from the middle school.
All in all, this shows that Wonsick is very happy to be coaching and working with this team for another season and hopefully many more seasons.
