On May 12, female athletes across the grades took part in their own version of Friday Night Lights in the annual Powderpuff football tournament.
The first game was the freshman against the sophomores. While the freshmen were struggling to complete a play, the sophomores were doing just fine. By halftime the score was 21-0 in favor of the sophomores. During the second half, each team continued to do good things. The freshmen got some yards and made some good plays, but the sophomores played even better. During the game, Sydney Sanno had a dominating performance helping her team to a 29-0 win.
The second game was the freshmen against the seniors. As the freshmen were getting tired because they had no subs, they still were able to create good plays, including a big sack from Rowan Zeiders on Savannah Reisinger in the first few seconds of the game. Still, the game was all seniors as they popped off with a 33-0 victory.
The final game was the two winners, seniors against sophomores. This was a good match up with the most athletic classes going against each other. It was a pretty exciting game with all the athletic plays and aggressive defense. The seniors tried to get some offense going during the game but their only score came on the last play of the game when Allie Yoder picked up a fumble and ran it for a touchdown. Despite the last second score, the sophomores offense was too much and helped them win the game with a score of 17-7.
