West Perry has had a tremendous season so far reaching 6-0. On September 29th, West perry won 72-28 against Boiling Springs; 72 is the highest in school history for the Mustangs. Some players that were interviewed before Friday's game was Marcus Quaker, Caleb Gutshall, and Ian Goodling all are seniors in High School. All three boys had agreed that one part they enjoy about football is the bonds they get to create with one another. A question that had been asked was “what has the team stressed about since the last game?” and some of the answers had been sloppiness, staying motivated, not having enough energy, and Gutshall had jokingly said “deodorant”. To add onto this, the next question that was asked was,“ So players were pretty sore last game, how are you guys feeling tonight?” and some of the answers were that they were ready and excited for the game. Next, Goodling had said he looked up to coach Folk, Gutshall said Ray Rice, and lastly Quaker said Coach Fieny. The next question that was asked is, “ If you seen a team mate struggling to learn a move or new position, what would you do?”, some of the answers to that was the boys would try to help them and talk them through and let them know they aren't alone an everyone struggles with something . To add onto these questions and answers, another question that was asked was, “what are your preferred pre-game and post game routines?” This question had been answered almost the same for all 3 boys, Quaker had stated that he likes to try and get hyped up for the games and Goodling had added on that they focus on getting undressed and dressed as soon as possible, Gutshall added on that he likes to shower. Some of their plans after high school is to go to college/ get a degree. One of the last questions that was asked was, “how many hours a week do you guys spend practicing?” and Goodling had stated “way to many”, Quaker and Gutshall agreed that they spend around 10 hours a week practicing and getting ready for the big games. The last question that had been asked was, “how do you prepare mentally and physically for games?” Gutshall said he goes to the trainer and Quaker said they try to get everyone hyped up.
