Mr. Kasian, a natural born leader, comes to West Perry to show West Perry students how to be their best version of themselves.
Mr. Kasian knew it was time to leave Central Dauphin East High School and come to a new home, West Perry High School. He felt grateful for the seven years of experiences he had with Central Dauphin East High School. He states, “At East High, it was unbelievable because I got an opportunity to work with the best of the best leaders not only as a teacher but as an administrator.” He had so many opportunities with a group of other principals that work now at Susquenita, Dauphin County Tech and more that he watched and learned from to become the leader he is today. He knew when he came for his second interview, he wanted to become a leader for West Perry.
Through Mr. Kasian's eyes, he thinks that WPHS is absolutely excellent. He believes that kids had to make adjustments to new structure, expectations, positive environment, and administrative presence that needed to be instilled for the district. He is pleased by the students that are accountable and very respectful and for the staff on how they have responded to be so respectful. Mr. Kasian states, “We have to stay humble and we have to stay focused. It's a team effort.”
Mr. Kasian has learned from great leaders on what to do and bad leaders on what not to do to be the principal he is today from being a Central Dauphin High School principal for ninth and twelfth grade. He wants to be available to help and hold people accountable. He wants to appreciate others and accept everyone. He states, “At East High I really became a leader because anything could happen.”
To make it a better place, Mr. Kasian thinks that West Perry’s mission is to make everyone feel accepted, appreciated, to hold people accountable, and to help anyone at any time. He wants every student and staff to be encouraged to think, smile, dream, and strive to be their best. This all revolves around teamwork, good communication, being cohesive, positive, and having to work together.
Mr. Kasian states, “I relate to troubled kids because that was my story.” He grew up very troubled with little exception from others, a lot of emotional hard times, and not appreciated but he was a good student athlete. He was a young man that really cared about people. He wants to care for West Perry High School District’s students and staff.
