The Joys Of Thanksgiving Break
Jillian Gardner / November 2022
Thanksgiving break is a time for students to celebrate and spend time with their families while taking a break from school. Thanksgiving is always on the fourth Thursday of November with Black Friday being the day after. Many students have differences about what their favorite part of Thanksgiving break is. Thanksgiving is mostly known to people as a day to eat a lot of food, although it is about that, it is also about spending time with family and being thankful. A lot of people also participate in Black Friday when stores make some of their stock on sale for people to buy Christmas gifts.
In the past, schools made the monday of thanksgiving as part of the thanksgiving break as it was the first day of hunting season. This is a bigger event mostly in Pennsylvania because of the amount of deer hunters in the state. Schools still continue to give Monday off even though hunting season now starts the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
When asked about Thanksgiving, an anonymous student stated,”I like the food the best, specifically the mashed potatoes or stuffing, or the sales so I can buy stuff.”
Leah Groff stated,”My favorite part of Thanksgiving is the food, specifically the green bean casserole.”
Sadie Innerst stated, “My favorite part of Thanksgiving is the food, specifically the gravy.”
