Should you buy this with Jack Brosius; Christmas extravaganza
By: Jack Brosius / November 30th 2023
Some teenage nobody’s opinions on the must-haves of the holiday season. So, Christmas is coming around, so who better to dictate what you should be buying to your friends and family than the guy who is blowing thousands of dollars to go to a music festival in vegas next october. I figure we should run through these by category quickfire style and get the best in class in several areas. First up is music, what do we think that I believe the must have album for the year is… obviously its equal strain on all parts by Jimmy Buffet. I hope it's clear that that was a joke, the real answer is one more time by blink-182, I couldn't stop singing its praises when it came out, and that was before I had a physical copy (thank you Alex). It is undoubtedly my favorite album of the year, and a must have for anyone who enjoys blink, pop-punk, or just good music in general.
Next up is video games: how many people expect me to say mortal kombat 1, as I couldn’t shut up about it, and it was the subject of the last one of these i did, but i believe that as a fighting game it is a little less accessible to the masses as my actual choice: sonic superstars. Now Sonic superstars is a groundbreaking AAA title that will change your life forever, no, but what it is is a fun, fast paced, family friendly, multiplayer centric platformer. I wouldn’t say it's the greatest game of all time, or even the greatest sonic game in the past few years (that goes to frontiers), but it allows you and up to three others to run through some classic sonic styled platforming, and isn’t that what the holidays are truly about: a blue hedgehog and his friends preventing an abnormally round man with a mustache from using small animals to power a theme park.
Books (no i don't have a good transition). Well i’ve only really read two books this year, and one is definitely not suitable as a gift for this most wonderful time of the year, unless you’re me, so we’re going to go with the one that isn’t american psycho: the silver scream, a fake true-crime novel set in the universe of the music videos of the band ice nine kills titular silver scream album. Like everything INK makes, I wouldn't say it's for the faint of heart, but for those fascinated by true-crime, you could do a lot worse, and these crimes didn’t even actually happen. Comics, yep they’re getting a section separate from books. While there are currently only two issues I would still say transformers from skybound comics are worth keeping an eye on, and the ones that are currently out fall under “must-haves' '.
If you need sold on it, it is a Transformers comic made by members of the teams that brought us invincible and the walking dead. I can’t really say anything else about it that isn’t either a spoiler, or something that people who don’t know transformers will understand. I’d rather not end this, but I have run out of things to pitch that are relevant to the masses. Remember don’t take my opinions as gospel I’m just some teenage loser, my taste should not dictate what you buy your loved ones this holiday season, the holidays are about giving, not receiving, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t like something you received, the fact that someone got it for you in the first place should be enough.
