Senior Success - Junior Transition Meeting

You can view a very quick recap screencast of the presentation here or simply view the slides embedded here with all of the live links (including all of the live documents that were part of the handout packet at the event).  The checklists for spring/summer and fall, instructions for college applications and letters of recommendation, senior year information guides, and all other resources referenced in the meeting are attached as links in the slides.

Additionally, please start to familiarize yourselves with the Michigan Achievement Scholarship , which many of our families will qualify for next year, and the Tuition Incentive Program (for those students who have or had been on Medicaid for a period of time of 24 months during a 36 month time period from the age of 9 through high school graduation).  These are perks for many of our students and it is helpful to know a bit about them.

Please also keep your calendars open for our College Application Workshop at 6:30pm on Monday, September 9th, 2024. We will be covering a lot of information specific to the college application process including dos and don'ts, essay tips and tricks, and specifics on using Naviance and CommonApp for college applications.

Panther Fund

The Panther Fund provides financial assistance for all middle and high school students in West Ottawa Public Schools who desire to participate in athletics, arts, music, theater and academics and their ability to participate has been limited due to financial constraints.  The Panther Fund is an outside non-profit and we are thankful for their partnership.  Visit their website at: https://www.thepantherfund.org/ for more information.

WINWO:

WinWO (When in Need West Ottawa) is an internal resource designed to help students in need of anything from school supplies and backpacks, to clothing, hygiene necessities, and glasses. This support is designed for all West Ottawa students Pk-12 and is funded by our Senior Survivor event (a week-long challenge in which 12 WOHS seniors live at the school and compete to raise money for this amazing fund).  Community and family partnerships are always welcomed during this time of giving within our schools.
