SUGGESTED SUMMER READING

It is the belief of the Weston school system that summer reading provides many benefits for our students, including the development of effective reading habits and reflective thinking.

All Weston High School students will be asked to read over the summer.

There will be at least one required title for all students enrolled in honors or AP level English classes. This information and assignments are posted on the WHS homepage.

It is strongly suggested that all students read at least two titles from the suggested summer reading list. This list includes suggestions and favorite books of the teachers.

This list includes a wide variety of titles, from non-fiction to thrillers to fantasy. We recommend that students, and their parents, read the attached review on Goodreads prior to selecting a title.

Although books don’t easily fit into one category, we’ve (loosely) organized the list by genre. Consider your interests and your preferences. Consider going outside of your “comfort zone” by reading a genre you normally wouldn’t choose.

Use your best judgment when deciding on a summer reading book from this list. We also encourage students to read books of their own choosing. This suggested list is in no way official or required.
