AVID is the number one college prep course in the nation! AVID is mainly for students who will be first generation college students and need some help finding the path. AVID teaches writing, reading and organizational skills and gives you a chance to network. We will also help you with college applications, scholarships applications and applying for financial aid.

Certifications/Awards Offered: Students will earn honor cords for graduation.

AVID 9 and 10: The high points are Fun Fridays and Tutorial days where college students come in to provide help to students struggling with their classes.
AVID 11 and 12: There are at least 5 field trips to colleges and we have many recruiters coming in to talk to students. We work on college applications, FAFSA and scholarship applications.

100% of WHS AVID students are accepted to college!

This is a four year program, so once you are accepted, you should plan on staying. However, we do accept students in their sophomore and junior year.
Students can list AVID on their resume and college applications.
Last year's AVID students earned $1.5 million in scholarships!
