Woodworking Projects to familiarize students with tools (joinery, tool box, small scale framing, furniture)
This is an excellent class for anyone who enjoys creating or building things! Students who are considering a career in ANY of the construction trades should also take this course!
Students need to be at a level of maturity where they can safely handle power-tools and work at their own pace.
In this year long course, students will acquire a broad range of skills by working on construction projects in the carpentry shop. Safety, construction-related math, and communication skills will be emphasized. The focus will be on hand and power tools, shop machinery, blueprint reading and sketching.
If students earn the HBI Core certification, they can work as a pre-apprentice as early as 16 at most construction sites.
