Select the option that describes your parents marital status as of today.
2. If you answered that your parents were married, divorced, separated or widowed, you will be asked to provide the date (month and year) when the status began.
In situations where a student's biological parents are not together, you will need to choose one parent to provide financial information. The parent you choose must be the parent who you lived with for the most time over the last 12 months. If you lived an equal amount of time with each parent, you will select the parent that provides more financial support.
If you are providing the information for a parent who has remarried, you would provide the date of the remarriage. For example, if you are providing your mother's financial information and she has remarried, you would provide the date of your mother's marriage to your step-father. You will also provide financial information for the step-parent.
The following people are NOT your parents unless they have legally adopted you: Widowed Stepparent, Grandparents, Foster Parents, Legal Guardians, Older Brothers or Sisters, Aunts or Uncles
