Message from the Superintendent:
Visual and performing arts are just as critical as traditional core subjects in my mind. So many lessons can be learned through the arts, but what they mean to me, personally, is they provide a window into the human soul and historical documentation of what is occurring in society at a particular place and time.
COVID-19 is a prime example of what the arts reflect: Hope, expression, healing, and development of the whole being. While we are a sports centric world, and there is nothing wrong with that, the arts have and will endure, even through pandemics. For some people like me, the arts also provided scholarship opportunities that allowed me to go to college. So, whether we experience the arts as a past time, a hobby, or a career field, I believe the development of the whole person and our culture are the greatest benefits. “There are many windows into the same room.” Howard Gardner.
