The Scholars Program at the University of Colorado Denver is an early college enrollment program designed to fill the informational & access gaps for First-Generation students by allowing selected high school seniors to take a free class each semester at CU Denver, while participating in monthly programming focused on various college prep topics.
Each month, students will be expected to attend Saturday Academies focused on workshops to aid in the college prep process. Saturday Academies will revolve around filling out college applications, completing the FAFSA, CASFA, scholarship applications and other forms of funding, personal and professional skills development, and more.
Eligibility
To apply, students must:
•Be a First-Generation college bound student (neither of whose natural or adoptive parent(s) received a baccalaureate degree in the US)
•Be a rising Junior
•Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application
•Have completed at least two years of math with an average grade of a B or better
•Have completed at least two years of English with an average grade of a B or better
•Be highly motivated & a self-advocate
