What you need to complete middle school photography
In order to complete middle school photography you will need a digital camera. If you own or have access to a digital camera, that is fantastic. If not, you'll need to use your cell phone's camera function (more on this below). If you don't have access to either you may be able to share with someone else in the class.
Tikanga: Using our phones as cameras and moving around the school taking photos
In this course you will have the opportunity to use your cell phone's camera (if you do not have access to another type of digital camera). It is important to remember the school's policy on cell phone use in class (it is not allowed). Therefore, please be aware of the following:
You will only be allowed to use the camera function of your phone - it's expected that you will not be using other apps.
You will only have the opportunity to use your phone's camera at certain times - your teacher will inform you when you may take your phone out of your bag to use as a camera
At all other times your phone should be in your bag (as per the school's policy)
For some elements of the course, you will be given the opportunity to move around the school to take photos. It is important that:
You respect other classes during this time - you must not interrupt or enter other classrooms
You keep noise outside to a minimum
You are on task and completing the work you've been asked to, not just wandering the school.
In both of the above things you're being afforded a high amount of trust from your teacher. If you break this trust you may no longer be able to have the same freedoms as other class members.
