Unwreathed Artisans Display

Saturday @ 9:30a - 4:00p in Ballroom Lobby

The beloved unwreathed artisans of the West Kingdom have been invited to present their skills and talents in this year's Unwreathed Artisans Display. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to share their art and work with the Kingdom and those visiting us from around the Knowne World. All event attendees, not only our lovely Laurels, are encouraged to visit the Display throughout the event so they can meet the artisans, and learn more about them and their art.

Meet the Artisans

A Dabble into Mid-Imperial Era Roman Material Goods

Artisan: Tellina di Giuseppe da Fiesole

I'll be displaying a number of items in various media based on extant Roman finds dated from around the first and second centuries CE.

Tellina is a constant maker of "stuff", digger of rabbit holes, cooker of treats, and fan of the library. Tellina resides in the Barony of Rivenoak, where she is currently Baroness.

A Moneyer's Tale

Artisan: Sean Tracy of the Westermark

I will be displaying a selection of the tools I use to cut coin dies, as well as some dies of coins I strike. There will also be some reference materials and books to look at, and if I am able to I might even strike a few coins on site.

I started my artistic journey in the SCA by doing calligraphy and illumination as well as making armor. Now I make many of the coins our Royalty gives out as tokens of appreciation. I have also made vigil tokens, pay for war bands, personal coins, and I have even made coins for foreign Nobles, Peers, and Royalty. I gladly teach what I know and most of the skills I teach are easily transferred into other artistic areas.

Along the Journey

Artisan: Micheila MacCallum

Just another stop on my fiber art journey as I wrestle with long term hand injuries. Relearning what I thought I knew about myself, my ability to learn new things and the desire to keep growing, learning, teaching and encouraging others along their path.

I am all about the Zen and the Art of Hand Embroidery. So much so, I have written articles about it. That said, do to a work related hand injury I have branched out to inkle and card weaving.

Early Modern Technologies: The Waterwheel and Mill

Artisan: Sibyl the Disobedient

A small glimpse into a cornerstone of medieval village life. Bread, in one form or another, has been foundational to human existence across history and the globe. Advances in technology, such as the waterwheel and gristmill, allowed for the more efficient conversion of grains to flour to make this dietary staple. But with greater efficiency comes greater concentration of economic power…

Period Food is Yummy!

Artisan: Clare Elena de Montfort

Since I cannot display actual food dishes, I will have a collection of recipes I have redacted and menus with recipes from feasts I have prepared and served.  I will also share my notes from the current project I'm starting and determined to tackle this year, Chastelettes from the Forme of Curye.  Pastry making has been something I've not quite mastered and this project will certainly expand my skill set!

I am Mistress Clare Elena de Montfort from the Barony of Eskalya and Selviergard in the Principality of Oertha.  I play with food and love cooking and feeding people.  I've dabbled with a variety of medieval cuisines but seem to have settled on English food from the 13th and 14th century.  When I'm not cooking, I can be found pursuing my other passion: equestrian activities.
