This is our highest baronial award for service to the barony. It is given for many years of constant exceptional service. It is given no more than once per year, and is awarded at the Baroness’ discretion.
The token for the order is a small ceramic millstone suspended from a Sable (black) ribbon.
Pillar of Fettburg
To recognize members who's service has been so great, and so consistent, over such an extended time, that generations have passed since they received the highest Fettburg award, the Ponderous Millstone. as such, an augmentation to the Ponderous Millstone was created to honor such Lengthy service to the Barony. The token is a Vert Jade Pillar adorned with an Argent Crystal coronet pendant from an Or ribbon.
This is the award for service to the barony. It is given for many different types of service. It is normally given after consulting the members of the order.
The token for the order is a Brass Bell suspended by a Vert (green) ribbon.
Order of the Argent Fleece
This is a special award for service to the barony by those who are not actually a part of the barony. It is given to those very special people who have been such friends of the barony that we wish they really could be part of our flock as it were. It is given at the discretion of the Baroness.
The Token is an Argent (white) sheep suspended from a Sable (black) ribbon.
This is the baronial award for Arts & Sciences. Originally it was suppose to be an award given to the winner of the Baronial Arts and Sciences Championship, however it was never given as a prize award. Instead, the order was for those whose work in the Arts and Sciences has greatly added to the enjoyment of the SCA in the barony. It normally is given after consulting the members of the order.
The original proposal for the token was: A 1 ¼ inch disk of copper pierced for a ribbon. An Acanthus leaf is either engraved upon the copper or cut from brass and soldered into place. It would be depending on a ribbon of Green or Gold. The final token was a green stone inscribed with an acanthus leaf in gold leaf, bound and suspended by leather
Order of the Blue Bowl
The Blue Bowl was originally given to the winner of a period food competition. At an early Yule Revel, the members were holding a Blue Bowl competition when someone (Viscountess Fiona von Steinhaus) urged the populace to vote for the Jamaican Bananas (there was of course no such dish entered in the contest. For several years the Jamaican Bananas contest were run instead of the Blue Bowl contest. Later, the contests were begun again at each Yule Revel and the Blue Bowl was converted to an Order.
The heavy fighter who fights with honor and chivalry, winning the baronial championship tournament is honored as the "Baroness of Fettburg's Champion". The history of our Barony shows that just recently (A.S. XLII) there was one tournament and one champion. Her Excellency, Cassandra Cernakova initiated the Rapier tournament, which determines Her "Rapier Champion". Both tournaments are held annually at the Fettburg Championship Tournament.
The token is a favor with the baronial device embroidered onto it.
Those having steadfastly shown great willingness to share of their house and goods to those in our Barony, you do hereby deserve reward. It is viewed as sort of a baronial analog to the Friendly Castle.
The token is an argent (white) lantern suspended on a sable (black) ribbon.
This is to reward those who entertain the Barony with quality verbal and/or visual humor. Period humor is preferred. The token of the order is a silver leather tongue with a bite taken out of the lower right corner (as viewed by an onlooker).
Order of the Argent Tongue
In the renaissance, the pun really was considered a high art form. With this in mind, a sub-order was added to the Bitten Tongue. The Order of the Argent Tongue will be awarded to those members of the main order whose puns are of such high quality that they are deemed worth of special notice.
The token for the order is a Leather Tongue Argent (white) with in base the sinister flank invected (a bite mark design taken out near the bottom) suspended from a Argent (white) ribbon.
Over the years we have lost track of the membership in this order.
This baronial award is for accomplishment in the fine and noble art of punning. This award has been looked on by some as a dubious honor at best. It is not really intended as such. The Order of the Twice Bitten Tongue (Thrice, etc.) will be awarded to those whose puns make up in truly excessive quantity whatever they may lack in quality.
The token for the order is a Tongue Purpure (purple) with in base the sinister flank invected (a bite mark design taken out near the bottom) suspended from a Vert (green) ribbon.
Order of the Twice Bitten (Doubly Invected) Tongue
The Order of the Twice Bitten Tongue (Thrice, etc.) is awarded to those whose puns make up in truly excessive quantity whatever they may lack in quality.
The token for the order is a Leather Tongue Purpure (purple) invected twice in base (a second bite mark design is taken out near the bottom, opposite the original bite.) suspended from a Vert (green) ribbon.
Order of the Overly Punish
This is a suborder of of the Bitten Tongue. This order includes those members of the Bitten Tongue who continue to exclaim poorly constructed puns in quantity. The members of this order have a large hole taken out of the center of their Bitten Tongue token.
