British Romanticism

The Romantics, part of a larger collection, analyzes the major influences in the lives of the Romantic poets during the late eighteenth century and mid-nineteenth century.

A refereed scholarly web site devoted to the study of Romantic period literature and culture.

Created in conjunction with the 2017 relaunch of Romanticism on the Net (RoN), NeuRoN functions as a new nerve center for digital research on British Romanticism, offering a stable, extensive, and up-to-date catalog of web-based resources in the field.

ERA’s online research project, Romantic Europe: The Virtual Exhibition (RÊVE) launched in summer 2017. The virtual exhibition is designed to address both an academic and a general audience as an interdisciplinary project showcasing and sharing Romantic texts, objects, and places through collaborations between academic researchers, museums, galleries and other cultural groupings.

Romantic London is a research project exploring life and culture in London around the turn of the nineteenth century using Richard Horwood’s pioneering PLAN of the Cities of LONDON and WESTMINSTER the Borough of SOUTHWARK, and PARTS adjoining Shewing every HOUSE (published between 1792 and 1799).

The Keats Letters Project is an exploration of the epistolary writing of Romantic poet John Keats. The Keats Letters Project offers a new Keats for the 21st-century – one inspired by both the material traces of Romantic-period correspondence and our own digital media environment, and one that aims to respond to the playful, heartfelt, and speculative spirit of Keats’s letters.

The archive provides the digital manuscripts of Percy Bysshe Shelley, Mary Shelley, William Goodwin and Mary Wollstonecraft.

This exhibition is a collaboration between the Bodleian Libraries and the New York Public Library. It unites two great collections to chart the history and reputation of a great literary family that was blessed with genius but marred by tragedy. (web archive)
