8 White Reminders and Notices Calendar
This calendar will be used to notify students and parents of important events and deadlines such as field trips, permission slips, and assessments. This calendar will NOT be used for posting daily homework. For that, you should refer to the 8 White Homework Calendar by clicking on this link or on the tab above.
About 8 White Cluster
8 White is a team of passionate and caring professional educators dedicated to providing the best educational experiences for all of our students. We are teachers and parents who understand the unique challenges faced by young people. Our daily practices are designed to help students develop their skills and grow into independent learners and responsible citizens. Our classes provide students with a variety of learning experiences to maximize engagement while meeting diverse student needs. We are also committed to the emotional and social well-being of our students and strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
Everything that we do is specifically designed to help prepare your child for success in high school. In addition to the subject-specific learning goals, we will be working to develop the following qualities in every student:
- taking responsibility
- time management
- work quality
Throughout the year please use our school email, or phone, to contact us with any questions. General team questions (schedule, field trips, etc.) can be directed to your child’s homeroom teacher, and subject-specific questions can, of course, be directed to the teacher. Kindly allow at least 48 hours for us to respond to any emails/calls.
If at any point in the school year you would like to meet with us to discuss your child’s progress, please contact the main office at 978-692-5580. Parent Conferences take place on Day 1 at either 8:40 or 9:05 am.
8th grade eats lunch around 11:30 each day which makes for a very long morning (for both students and teachers!) During Core 1, students may have a working snack. Due to several students in the grade with allergies, the snack must be completely NUT FREE. We also ask that it is not something that is distracting to anyone in the classroom (it should be a snack - not a 5 course meal!) Some suggestions are listed below.
- Cheese Sticks
- Carrot Sticks
- Rice Cakes
Homework is posted on the 8 White Homework Calendar by 3 pm each day. You can access this calendar by clicking on the link or on the tab at the top of this page. If your child is absent from school, please encourage him/her to check the assignments online (even if they will not be completed), and then see us during Advisory upon returning to school to review what he/she missed.
A Note About Organization
Staying organized is a very important part of finding success in middle school. We will spend a lot of time during the first few weeks of school setting up binders in classes, to help the students start the year on the right foot. Please try to stick to the the supplies listed above - creating your own “system” often results in confusion for the kids when we set up binders.
