Westfield High School
My name is Mrs. Luis, and I've been teaching at Westfield High School since 2005. I love guiding students as they explore the world and themselves through a variety of subjects. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of teaching courses like Global Perspectives, Exploring Global Perspectives, Psychology Through Film and Literature, AP Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, and Comparative Religions.
When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy a few of my favorite things: cooking new recipes, traveling to new places, and spending quality time with my family. I also love getting lost in a good book and taking peaceful walks. I look forward to connecting with you!
I wanted to share some information to get you started for the first day of school.
The first few weeks of school will be focused on building a safe classroom community and getting students comfortable being back in the classroom (ex. navigating Google Classroom, adapting to the new rotating block schedule, understanding course requirements and expectations, etc.). For the first day of school your child will need to log on using their school account and join our Google Classroom where important course requirements such as textbook information, syllabus, class rules, and expectations will be posted. Attendance will be taken daily during the opening minutes of each class.
Google Classroom is where I will be posting assignments & activities. To locate class assignments you will need to:
Log into Google and open our Google Classroom
On the top of the page you will see four tabs, all assignments will be posted in the tab “Classwork”
Assignments will be organized by topic and date so they can easily be found each day.
Please know that I am here to help and I will work to create a learning experience that is student friendly and engaging.
During the 2025-2026 school year, I plan on supporting student development in academic independence focusing specifically on self advocacy, group collaboration, and greater independence in problem solving.
I look forward to meeting students during our initial classes!
