Update On The Completion of the Sports Performance Center Project

Warhawk Sports Performance Center

Warhawk Nation, we are overjoyed to announce the completion of the Warhawk Sports Performance Center! This project reflects the heart of our community’s unwavering commitment to giving our students a safe, state-of-the-art facility to train, prepare, and excel every day.

It all started on July 22, 2024, when we shared our vision at a Town Hall meeting and asked for your support. Without hesitation, the Warhawk community rose to the challenge, accomplishing something truly extraordinary—raising $100,000 in just five months! But the contributions didn’t stop there.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible coaches, student-athletes, parents, boosters, and community members who went above and beyond—donating time, money, and resources to paint, remodel, demo, and restore this amazing space. This was a team effort in every sense, and the results are a shining example of what we can achieve when we work together.

To celebrate, we invite you to an Open House on Monday, December 16, from 6–8 PM. Come tour the new Sports Performance Center and see firsthand the incredible work YOU helped make possible.

As promised, the Sports Performance Center is now open to all Warhawk teams and student-athletes! Coach Shaffer has prepared a few "open" lifting sessions, and if individual teams or coaches would like to reserve training sessions for their specific team, please reach out to Coach Shaffer directly. Open Lifting is Wednesday from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-12pm.

This facility doesn’t just provide cutting-edge equipment—it represents our commitment to high-quality training programs that will help our student-athletes become stronger, reduce injuries, and compete at the highest levels.

Words can’t express the pride and gratitude we feel for this community. It is our privilege to serve as the principal and athletic director of Westerville Central High School, and this achievement is a beautiful reminder that we are truly Better Together.

Thank you, Warhawk Nation, for your passion, generosity, and dedication. The future is bright for our students, and it’s all because of you.

Built Warhawk Tough!

Mr. Ey, Athletic Director

Warhawks Girls VB Update

The Westerville Central Warhawks defeated Westerville North Warriors in straight sets: 25-11, 25-13, and 25-19.

After slow starts in the Warhawks’ preceding two matches, senior Alyvia Mentlow, ensured her team would not fall behind its crosstown rival on the road. Mentlow opened with an eight-point service run including six aces to set the tone for the night.

Head coach Shaun Servick said, “It’s really nice to have seniors step up in a rivalry game” and credits the both team leadership and complimentary play as instrumental.

“I thought on both ends we were prepared and it showed up early,” Servick said. “Once confidence took over we had a good thing going.”

Junior setter Jane Zvolanek directed the Warhawk offense which runs through hitters in Mentlow, junior Olivia Curry, and sophomore Ava Salehi.

Zvolanek provided a bit her own offense with multiple tip kills on the second touch.

The Warhawks maintained strong point efficiency through the first sets with a punishing offense and solid team defense, especially on serve receive.

With a 2-0 lead through two sets, Servick was able to experiment with different rotations and provide the extended roster with game action against a rival opponent.

Servick returns to Central after coaching and entrepreneurship on the club circuit in central Ohio.

When asked about what high school volleyball means in Westerville, Servick said, “We used to play [the crosstown schools] both twice and the chance to win four games in the ‘Ville was always a privilege. We have to bottle those feelings to two matches now which makes each match more important.”

With early season victories over South and North already, the Warhawks claim the title to “Battle of The ‘Ville” for 2024.

The team will host a quad this Saturday at 9:00 am
